Appreciative Inquiry

Appreciative Inquiry (AI) is an asset-based, positive approach to leadership development and organizational change.

While many traditional methods of organizational change begin by focusing on pitfalls and problems, I use AI to explore strengths and successes that already exist, both internally and externally. This positive approach leads to extraordinary performance by reinforcing relationships and culture, creating common vision and direction, promoting learning and innovation, and energizing collective action.

Asset-Based Community Development & Inclusion

I help communities design a bottom-up approach to developing a sustainable and inclusive community.

This relationship-driven approach focuses on building upon the positive aspects of the community, empowering and mobilizing members of the community, and creating sustainable community trust and growth.

Cultural Competence

Cultural Competence is a key component of building and sustaining an inclusive environment. For individuals, communities, and organizations, becoming culturally competent is an ongoing, developmental process of learning one’s own cultural worldview and social identity, developing the core competencies and to recognize and appreciate cultural differences, and learning how to adapt behaviors, systems, policies, and practices in a way that creates an environment where everyone can bring their whole selves into the room and contribute in the ways we were meant to contribute. I meet you wherever you are in your cultural competence and design solutions to help you move forward.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)

DEI Training goes hand-in-hand with Cultural Competence, but there are some differences between the two. Cultural Competence is about the ongoing development of our mindset toward cultural differences. DEI is about creating systems that guarantee air treatment, access, opportunity, and advancement for all while striving to identify and eliminate barriers that have prevented the full participation of some groups. I apply appreciative approaches to help you design practices and policies that will begin to foster equity and inclusion within your community or organization.

Recovery Oriented Systems of Care (ROSC)

A ROSC is a coordinated network of community-based services and supports that is person-centered and builds on the strengths and resilience of individuals, families, and communities to achieve abstinence and improved health, wellness, and quality of life for those with or at risk of alcohol and drug problems. I have helped national and international organizations design, develop, and expand culturally-competent ROSCs that empower individuals and address the broader range of support needed for diverse people seeking multiple pathways to recovery.
